PRE-CARE

Preparation for Treatment
  • Apply moisturizing cream every day, twice a day on the area to be treated.

  • If you are having treatment done on the body, please shower and practice good hygeine before you arrive.

  • For work around the hairline or nape of the neck, hair should be washed.

  • Make sure you come well hydrated. We recommend drinking at least 32 ounces of water the day before the client’s treatment.

  • Avoid Caffeine and alcohol prior to treatment as it “wakes up” nerve endings making you more sensitive and it also makes you dehydrated.

  • Avoid rushing to your appointment; this can make you tense and nervous. I recommend you arrive at my practice 5-10 minutes early to allow yourself time to relax.

  • If you are very sensitive, Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, etc., taken prior your treatment or apply numbing cream may decrease your sensitivity.

  • Avoid wearing deodorant prior to an underarm treatment.

  • Clean skin reduces the risk of irritation, so lotions, oils, deodorants and/or make-up should be avoided on the areas to be treated.

POST-CARE

Home Care Instructions

It is normal that your skin may display redness, scabs and a small amount of swelling after treatment. If any other manifestations occur, it is temporary and will disappear shortly with proper care. Do not aggravate the treatment area by touching, rubbing, scratching or squeezing the treated area. Please follow these instructions:

  • Keep treated area clean and dry. Do not rub while washing or drying your skin.

  • If work was done on the face, neck or hairline, put a new pillowcase on your pillow.

  • If, after treatment, a tiny formation of fluid resembling a milia or whitehead is noted, do not squeeze. Apply a dab of calamine lotion to the area. This reaction is normal and the fluid will dry up.

  • If swelling occurs, apply ice wrapped in plastic to the treated area.

  • Apply Aloe Vera gel or medicated greaseless cream especially formulated for burns.

  • Avoid suntanning, working out, hot tubs, etc. which can increase swelling until treatment area has completely healed.

  • For electrolysis treatment on the face, try not to apply make-up for at least 24 hours. If you must wear make-up, put an antibiotic ointment on first or use only fresh make-up, purchased within the last 90 days to minimize the risk of infection or reaction.

  • For electrolysis treatments on the underarm, avoid wearing deodorant for at least 48 hours. Deodorant clogs the pores and dries out the skin, increasing the healing time.

  • Wear sunscreen at all times. If the treatment area is unprotected while healing, hyper-pigmentation may occur.
